About the role
We’re hiring a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer to build the Rust-based backend and cryptographic systems powering privacy onchain. You’ll architect core services, SDKs, and primitives while ensuring security, scale, and reliability. This role spans systems engineering, DevOps, and security.
What you'll do
- Build production Rust systems: protocol components, cryptographic tooling, developer APIs.
- Design and ship SDKs (Rust, WASM, TS/JS) that simplify cryptographic operations.
- Own security: key management, enclaves, encryption, threat modeling, incident response.
- Drive DevOps: CI/CD, safe deploys, monitoring/alerting, scaling, disaster recovery.
- Collaborate with frontend, protocol, and research teams.
You may be a good fit if you
- Have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with significant Rust production experience
- Have built and maintained SDKs or libraries that external developers depend on
- Understand frontend technologies (TypeScript/JavaScript) and can build developer-friendly abstractions
- Have hands-on DevOps experience: managing CI/CD, deployments, scaling systems, and ensuring high availability
- Take security seriously: experience with private key management, HSMs, secure key storage, data encryption, and preventing catastrophic failures
- Have worked in crypto/blockchain and understand the stakes (lost funds, protocol exploits, bridge hacks)
- Are strong with cryptography: signatures, encryption schemes, zero-knowledge proofs, and their practical implementations
- Debug complex distributed systems and think deeply about edge cases
- Communicate clearly and can balance theoretical correctness with practical shipping
Bonus points
- Contributed to major Rust libraries or the ecosystem
- Experience with ZK circuits or zkVMs
- Experience with WASM and cross-platform compilation
- Built developer tools, SDKs, CLIs, or frameworks others love
- Staff/Principal experience at high-growth startups or major tech companies
- Operated production systems with significant funds or sensitive data
- Kubernetes, Terraform, or IaC experience
- Published security research or contributed to audits
