About the Role
At Allium, Blockchain Data Wizards are the data architects who transform raw, fragmented on-chain data into meaningful abstractions that power leading crypto applications. You’ll be equal parts detective, data engineer, and protocol researcher—digging into blockchain internals, reverse engineering DeFi protocols, and crafting models institutions and developers rely on.
What You Will Do
- Create Meaningful Data Abstractions — Turn messy on-chain data into unified, intuitive models (e.g., dex.trades, lending.liquidations) that deliver granular, reliable insights across verticals.
- Reverse Engineer DeFi Protocols — Dissect smart contract interactions, analyze on-chain events, and convert protocol mechanics into clean, production-ready SQL/dbt models.
- Index New Blockchains — Explore raw chain data structures, ensure accurate data capture, and design schemas that become an ecosystem’s source of truth.
- Build Metrics & Filter Noise — Design usable metrics (volumes, fees, TVL, user activity) while removing wash trading, bots, and Sybil noise.
Qualities
- Sherlock-Level Curiosity — You spot anomalies others miss, question assumptions, and uncover insights that reshape industry narratives.
- Product-Minded Data Design — You think in terms of data products, query patterns, documentation, and downstream developer needs.
- Comfort with Ambiguity — You thrive in ecosystems with sparse documentation, relying on exploration and experimentation.
- SQL/dbt Mastery — You write elegant, performant SQL, understand incremental models, macros, and build scalable pipelines.
